The Netherlands originating horse breed called the Friesian horse started working during the 12th and 13th centuries. They first started out being war horses since they were in such great demand in Europe. In the early middle ages their size enabled them to carry knights in armor. The Friesian horse was bred to be a lighter and faster trotter which led to what some people call inferior stock. Today, they are used as carriage horses and other driving. Also, because of their flashy apperarance they have become popular in film and also as circus horses. Since they are circus horses they are often used for dressage. Also, since they are light weight and have good trainablitiy skills they are used in running competions. Although the Friesian horse is strong built and is used for a lot of things they are used for fun to for example, just general riding!
