* The working history of Draft Horses

The working history of draft horses has been going on for many years and still going. Draft horses were bred to be worked for hard, heavy jobs, such as farm labor. Some of the farm work most draft horses did was plowing and hauling equipment and other farm machines around. Draft horses, such as the Shries, were made to carry carts to move goods from docks through the cities and countryside. In the earlier days the large horses were needed to carry most of the goods because of the rough roads. Some draft horses were in World War II and were a big help to the riders. The Clydesdale was originally used for agriculture and hauling coal. Today, they are still used for agriculture, logging, and driving. As you can tell draft horses have been very helpful in the earlier days with farming and hauling various things, and still are.
